Design Challenge

The Aspen House needed to support everyday social life and recreation, with architecture, interiors, and landscape inspired by the mountain setting and designed to be a go-to gathering spot for the Summit Sky Ranch community.

Accomplishments & Design Solution

The Aspen House is the heart of Summit Sky Ranch. Set into a sloping hillside and surrounded by aspen groves, the building steps with the terrain and maintains a low profile, allowing the landscape to remain the dominant presence.

The interior is organized around a generous common space that feels more like a stylish living room than a clubhouse. A large stone fireplace anchors the room, creating a cozy, après-ski–style sitting area. A bar and coffee kiosk support casual, everyday use, while a professional-grade kitchen allows the space to host larger events and community gatherings. Fitness and wellness areas, along with a rec room, make it a place residents return to throughout the day. Extensive glazing wraps the primary spaces, opening extraordinary views of the mountains.
