There has been a lot of conversation about the Broncos’ long-term plans for a new stadium and what it could mean for both the Burnham Yard site and the land around the current stadium.
The team has identified Burnham Yard as its preferred location for a future retractable-roof stadium anchored by a mixed use district, keeping the franchise near downtown while opening up one of the last large redevelopment sites in the city. If the move happens, the existing Empower Field site would return to city control, creating another major opportunity for new housing, public space, and future development.
Several local outlets have taken a closer look at what this could mean for Denver, the surrounding neighborhoods, and the long-term shape of the city.
We thought these were worth a read:
- “Where Is Burnham Yard? What to Know About New Broncos Stadium Site” Westword
- “Transforming Bronco’s Stadium Site into a Vibrant Community” Naked Denver
- “Broncos plan to build new stadium at Denver’s Burnham Yard” Denverite
With Burnham Yard, the current stadium property, and the surrounding neighborhoods all part of the conversation, there’s a lot to keep an eye on.
