In October, we gathered with community leaders and our project partners in Castle Rock to celebrate the long-anticipated groundbreaking of The Brickyard, kicking off construction on a new mixed use district just west of downtown.
Once home to the Acme Brickworks, the 31-acre site is being transformed into a vibrant destination that will bring together housing, restaurants, offices, hospitality, and recreation. The project also includes the 145,000-square-foot Castle Rock Sports Center, which will serve as a regional hub for tournaments and community events and kicks off the first phase of development.
Craine Architecture has been involved since the early stages of the project, leading master planning and urban design for the district. Working closely with Confluence Companies and the Town of Castle Rock, the team helped shape a plan that reconnects the site to the surrounding street network while creating walkable blocks, courtyards, and public spaces designed to support everyday activity.
The groundbreaking was an exciting moment for all of us after several years of planning and collaboration. We’re grateful to be working alongside an outstanding team of partners, including Confluence Builders, Harris Kocher Smith, Back40 Landscape Architecture, and Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture, whose work on the Sports Center will help anchor the district.
As construction gets underway, Brickyard begins its next chapter — transforming a historic industrial site into a new destination for the Castle Rock community.
