A New Phase Along the South Platte

It might not look like it yet, but the South Platte is starting to change.

The River Mile is a 62-acre redevelopment centered on the river itself. Right now, the focus is on reshaping the channel, deepening and narrowing it to deal with long-standing floodplain constraints that have limited what can be built along this stretch of downtown. It’s technical work, but it starts to open up new possibilities for how this part of the city can grow.

New connections across the river, better access down to the water, and environmental improvements will start to change how people use and experience this stretch of the South Platte.

Most of this is happening behind the scenes, through engineering and coordination between public and private partners. Not much to see yet, but everything else depends on it.
