Design Challenge
The design needed to make every square foot count while celebrating its industrial history, honoring its place in local memory, and capturing the adventurous spirit of Golden’s mountain-town setting.
Accomplishments & Design Solution
Set along Clear Creek just north of downtown Golden, the design responds to a compact site with thoughtful efficiency and strong connection to the mountain setting. Built on the historic Golden Brick Works property, the industrial-style architecture celebrates the site’s heritage through brick, steel, and textured materials that express rugged durability and sophisticated warmth.
Large roll-up doors open the taproom and restaurant to a patio and lawn where guests gather around the fire pit and play yard games, and upscale guestrooms above offer comfort and views of the Clear Creek Valley. Rooftop decks extend the experience further with panoramic scenery and Colorado sunshine. Collaboration was key with a focus on constructability, purpose, and shared advocacy for the project. The result is a modern community landmark that strengthens its connection to Golden’s legacy and lifestyle.
