Design Challenge

The design objective is to maintain continuity with the residential scale of West 8th Street while creating a new gateway/ landmark for the Golden community at this important intersection.

Accomplishments & Design Solution

The three buildings are sensitively sited with lowest height apartment fronting 8th Street, and the larger buildings established farther back as the grade slopes down toward the back of the site. The apartment buildings are broken up into smaller masses and the hotel has articulated brick bays reminiscent of historic buildings of Golden’s past.

At the heart of the project is the Hotel Eddy with sweeping views of Golden and the mountains beyond. A ground level pub with outdoor amenities for the hotel and residence pull people outdoors to enjoy this scenic site.
